COMMUNICATIONS & MEDIA WORKSHOP
Aug 20-24 2018 ( DAY 1)
Term 3 2018 will begin a week from today! Meanwhile we are honored to have these special guests give us a workshop on their respective professions in Communications and Media this week. On behalf of the school rector Simon Mani msc, we welcome Bill Falekaono, Agatha Ferei, Netani Rika, 'Ulu'alo Po'uhila, Natane Choice and Leca Vunibobo. We look forward to the knowledge you have to share with the students of PRS on communications and media.

START OF THE YEAR
The year opened in the usual way with orientations. Moderators first then faculty. Year One and Year Six came together one week before the main student body arrived on 5th February 2018. Faculty remained almost unchanged from 2017 apart from the arrival of Fr Aisake Silatolu sm to teach philosophy. Though there were a couple of surprises also with Fr Iona Tatau being again available for Canon Law in 2017 and Fr Soane ?Ahohako sm being available for the first term to help carry out the Moral program of the seminary. Unfortunately we lost Fr Andrea Volonnino sm who had had to return to Italy for family reasons at the end of 2016.

NEW MEMBERS OF THE SENATE
Archbishop Peter Loy has taken over as chairman of the seminary senate from Cardinal Soane Mafi in mid 2016 and Bishop Peter Brown of Samoa-Pagopago joined the long standing members Bishop Ghislain and Cardinal Soane as the four bishops on the Senate. Frs Richard McNally SS CC and Tamati Sefo MSC represented the congregations on the senate.

STUDENT BODY
The student numbers had stayed about the same for the last three years. In 2017 there are 124 in class on campus, compared to 119 in 2016 and 117 in 2015 The number of student in diocesan college rose again to 57 after decreasing to 50 in 2015.

Homily by Fr. Simon Mani MSC, Rector of the Pacific Regional Seminary.
